COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
• Good performance in environmental sustainability and energy infrastructure; strategic plans for sustainable
development have been drawn
• Good availability of international airports and connections to the international air transfer network
POLICY PRIORITIES
• Reviewing national transport networks to facilitate transport and storage services (logistics) and more efficient
interconnection of freight channels
• Modernising and upgrading transport infrastructure in the periphery so as to increase accessibility, which is a
critical factor in attracting companies, investment, as well as a skilled workforce
• Upgrading the infrastructure for the transfer, storage and distribution of electricity, and providing incentives for
a bigger shift to renewables
• Preparing a development plan for cruise port facilities (both for leisure craft and for larger cruise ships)
PROPOSED ACTIONS
• Introducing and implementing environmental compliance criteria for across all branches of activity (tourism,
agriculture, industry, transport)
• Evaluating and promoting business projects which integrate detailed sustainability measures
