                                  I   n 2021, in the second edition of the annual Compass report, we identified the promotion

                                      of innovative entrepreneurship as one of the fundamental steps to be taken towards bol-
                                      stering our country’s competitiveness and resilience in the face of an uncertain future.

                                      The coronavirus crisis accelerated digital transformation, rewriting the rules on global
                                   competition and opening up a world of considerable challenges and opportunities. In this
                                   new normal, where uncertainty is the only certainty, innovation emerges as a vital factor that
                                   enables states, organizations and businesses to redefine themselves, foster resilience in their
                                   operations, and achieve sustainable growth in a world that is changing much faster than we
                                   realise.
                                   With this third edition of the Compass report, we have endeavoured to delve deeper into
                                   the role of innovation, appreciating the paramount importance of building strong links and

                                   performance on innovation and the fundamental pillars of competitiveness.

                                   Moreover, we put forth a series of proposals outlining the creation of innovation-focused
                                   training programmes for new businesses, the attraction of select productive investments to
                                   boost collaborative innovation ecosystems, and the continuous improvement of workforce
                                   skills. Nurturing talent with the right knowledge and future-proof skill sets is perhaps the
                                   single most critical catalyst in advancing innovation and shoring up competitiveness and
                                   prosperity well into the future.
