“COMPASS” REPORT 2022 – COUNCIL ON COMPETITIVENESS OF GREECE 23

          CALL TO ACTION 2022

Following the analysis of the main elements of the Greek innovation ecosystem, it can be ascertained that
both at the macroeconomic level and in terms of the institutional efforts of relatively direct impact, the
country has made significant progress over the past period, yet there is still significant margin for improve-
ment in areas that can significantly contribute to the competitiveness of Greek business. In line with the
Compass report’s annual goal, which is to focus on the most pressing elements that are key to bolstering
the competitiveness of the Greek economy, there follows a set of proposed actions, chosen either because
they can swiftly deliver results or because they can contribute to laying the foundations for long-term
improvement and maintenance of our country’s international competitiveness.

Tracking the proposals put forth by the annual Compass report since 2020, we are glad to see that there
have been significant improvements, particularly concerning the country’s attractiveness to foreign in-
vestments, the digitalisation of public services, and cooperation between the private and public sectors
in education and entrepreneurship, and the results of these efforts are evident in the analysis above. This
year, armed with the same intent, we present our proposals, aiming to support the decision-making pro-
cess of the country’s political leadership concerning subsequent actions and steps aiming at strengthening
          innovation and competitiveness.
