In 2022, with an emphasis on improving competitiveness and indeed innovation, which
is the focal point of this year’s Compass report, our proposals can be summarised as
                           follows:

1 LAUNCH OF INNOVATION-FOCUSED TRAINING PROGRAMMES AND CERTIFICATIONS

FOR SMES AND STARTUPS IN THE PROCESS OF EXPANDING, TO ATTRACT SUITABLE
HUMAN RESOURCES, CAPITAL, COLLABORATIONS, AND CUSTOMERS. Synergies must be
built upon and extroversion strengthened with the ultimate goal of establishing larger yet sus-

tainable partnerships. Matters such as corporate governance, inclusion, management of new
technologies, and environmental footprint are key factors in both innovation and compatibility
with innovative companies. Education will contribute towards integrating skills and best prac-
tices into daily routine, while certification will serve as an incentive for diversification.

2 TARGETED ATTRACTION OF INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTIVE INVESTMENTS WITH A VIEW

TO ESTABLISHING BUSINESS CLUSTERS AND TO QUALITATIVELY AND TECHNOLOGI-
CALLY UPGRADING INNOVATIVE GREEK BUSINESSES THAT ARE PARTICIPATING, WITH
HORIZONTAL DISSEMINATION OF BENEFITS ACROSS INDUSTRIES OF THE GREEK ECON-
OMY. Due to the disruption of global supply chains, Greece can take on a key role as regards
the interconnections and productive processes of multinationals, and reinforcing the links
to alternative production systems, the goal being to establish extensive ecosystems centred
around a core of companies that provide know-how, quality assurance and new ways of doing
business, working with Greek suppliers, logistics companies, educational institutions and sup-
porting organisations. Making companies part of an ecosystem will also favour the generation

of synergistic innovation through process upgrades and technology sharing.

3 DEVELOPMENT OF A MECHANISM FOR ADVANCING ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVA-

TION THROUGH MID-CAREER UPSKILLING AND INTERNSHIPS STARTING IN SECONDARY
EDUCATION. The aim is to foster continuous skill development and entrepreneurial mindsets
and to ensure long-term employment prospects in line with advanced economies.
