THE NEW REALITY
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerates and highlights trends, disrupts and forms new markets, while it is also expected
to lead to changing conditions of competitiveness and to a dramatic transformation of the global economy. This new
reality creates opportunities to redefine the position of Greece.
MARKETS OF TOMORROW
In the above context, the WEF has introduced the term “markets of tomorrow”, as elaborated in the report titled
“Markets of Tomorrow: Pathways to a New Economy”. In theory, a new market is being created, or replacing an existing
market – and this market can constitute part of a new model, leading to transformation. This is a transformation
expected to result from the integration of new technologies and institutional systems into our everyday life in response
to the pressing social issues resulting from the pandemic. The WEF identifies 20 markets of tomorrow, which could
support the resurge of growth in a sustainable and inclusive manner. These markets are grouped into three main
categories, as follows:
