“COMPASS” REPORT 2021 – COUNCIL ON COMPETITIVENESS OF GREECE 23
3 FOCUS ON THE ENTREPRENEURIAL DIMENSION OF INNOVATION
Accelerating the drawing of links between research and companies, and showcasing,
on an international level, research activities and the country's specialised human
resources. Through actions such as taking inventory of research centres, creating
innovative funding mechanisms for research, and more connections between
universities and the market, Greece can emerge as a global innovation destination.
In conclusion, the recommended initiatives emphasise different priority areas, having as their main goal to
showcase the key axes that can make Greece stand out in the competitive arena. For them to be implemented
successfully, it is necessary on the one hand to integrate them into a long-term plan, and, on the other, to
ensure active collaboration between all stakeholders.
The National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” aims to transform the Greek economy through ambitious
reforms and investments that will lead to an outward-looking, competitive and green economic model. From
the implementation of the plan, €31bn is expected to be channelled into the economy in the following years,
focusing on four pillars: Green Transition, Digital Transition, Employment – Skills – Social Cohesion, and Private
Investment. “Greece 2.0” is expected to have a significant impact on the country and constitute an important
springboard to develop its competitiveness.
